JST Soar Adds Support for MacOS Big Sur | Version 1.1.0 Update

JST’s flagship tape delay plugin, Soar, has been updated to version 1.1.0, introducing some minor plugin enhancements and additional support for MacOS customers. Existing customers should be able to access the update from their order receipt/download link now. New customers will receive the latest version upon purchase.

OS Support

With version 1.1.0, JST Soar can now safely be installed on computers running MacOS 10.10.x and above* or Windows 7+.

* Big Sur (MacOS 11.x) support is limited to Intel devices with unofficial compatibility with Rosetta 2. Full support for Apple Silicon (M1/ARM chips) will be announced with a future update.

Graphics Update

Version 1.1.0 of JST Soar also includes a new feature allowing users to disable OpenGL when the plugin window is opened. This functionality should improve system performance on devices with limited or overburdened graphics processors.

To disable OpenGL support, simply hold Alt (PC) or Option (Mac) when opening the JST Soar plugin window.

64-Bit Architecture

Starting with version 1.1.0, the installer for JST Soar will only be available in a 64-bit format.

The discontinuation of the 32-bit version of the plugin is in line with many other software companies, as Apple has not supported 32-bit architecture since October 2019 and Microsoft announced in May 2020 that it would no longer be offering new devices with 32-bit builds. By depreciating our 32-bit installer, we’ll be able to provide better support and faster updates as new features, fixes, and enhancements are introduced.

For questions about compatibility, please visit the Soar product page or contact our support team via the Contact Us page. Our support hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM Eastern Time.

Soar - Change Log

May 17th, 2021
Version: 1.1.0

Soar is a diverse Tape Echo/Delay effect, expertly tuned for the modern age and use in multiple genres. The controls for Soar are designed to mimic those of a production tape delay. Instead of allowing extensive digital control, we’ve enforced some of the limitations of a traditional tape unit. You can adjust the tape age, repeat, intensity, flutter, and general health of the machine. The low contour knob gives you a HPF that allows you to pull the more extreme lows out of the signal aggregation path... and much more!
