Howard Benson Vocals Just Got a Major Upgrade v1.0.6

Howard Benson Vocals has a new update, and it's a good one.

Six new reverb environments have been added to the Space module. Each one built for a specific purpose, a specific feeling, a specific moment in a mix.

If you've used the plugin before, you already know the Space module works. This just gives you a lot more to work with.

A Bit of Context

Reverb is one of those things that sounds simple until you're 30 minutes deep trying to find the right one.

Too much and your vocal disappears. Too little and it sounds dry and disconnected. The wrong type and it just... doesn't fit, even if you can't immediately explain why.

Howard's approach to vocals has never been one-size-fits-all. His work covers a huge range, from intimate rock records to massive arena productions, and the space around a vocal changes everything depending on what the song needs.

These six new environments reflect that thinking.

The 6 New Reverb Environments

Dark Room

A dark, controlled ambience that adds depth while keeping vocals focused.

This one is subtle. It gives your vocal a sense of space without pulling it back in the mix. Good for verses, quieter moments, or any time you want presence without wash.

Cathedral

Lush, dramatic space for big emotional vocal moments.

When the chorus needs to feel like it's filling a room, this is the one to reach for. It's not subtle. It's not meant to be.

Outer Space

A huge, atmospheric reverb for wide, floating vocal effects.

Perhaps the most distinct of the six. There's no ceiling here. Use it on the right moment and it'll be one of the most memorable sounds in your mix. Use it wrong and, well, you'll know pretty quickly.

Hall

A smooth, spacious reverb that gives vocals natural depth and dimension.

This one disappears into a mix in the best way. It adds dimension without drawing attention to itself. Probably the most versatile of the six, if I had to pick one.

Plate

A polished, studio-style reverb that keeps vocals bright and forward.

Classic for a reason. If you need your vocal to stay present and clean while still having some air around it, Plate does exactly that. Nothing flashy, just reliable.

Sky

An open, airy reverb with a wide cinematic tail.

Wide and expansive without getting muddy. Works well on big, soaring vocal lines where you want the reverb to feel as open as the performance itself.

What Changes For You

The Space module was already useful. This update just removes the moments where you'd think "I wish I had something a bit more..."

Instead of jumping to a separate reverb plugin and starting from scratch, you now have six purpose-built options right inside the chain. Already tuned for vocals. Already sitting in the context of Howard's full signal path.

Pick the space. Adjust the Amount. Move on.

That's really it.
